Last verified: October 24, 2026, against Audible's Plans & Pricing page, the Audible Conditions of Use, Audible Help, Apple Support and Google Play Help.

Quick answer

  • How long is the Audible free trial? 30 days. "Your Audible membership is free for 30 days. If you enjoy your Audible trial, do nothing and your membership will automatically continue." (Audible Plans & Pricing)
  • What you'll pay after: $8.99/month for Standard or $14.95/month for Premium (US). (same source)
  • Spend your credit first: unused Premium credits are lost when you cancel, but "Any title you get with a credit is yours to keep." (Audible Help: Cancel membership)
  • To cancel on the website: select your name → Membership details → Cancel membership → Confirm cancellation. (same source)
  • Billed by Apple or Google? Those memberships "cannot be canceled through the Audible site and must be canceled through the App Store or Google Play Store." (same source)
  • Deleting the app doesn't cancel: "Deleting the Audible app will not cancel a membership." (same source)

Audible free trial and prices now (US)

Trial length: 30 days on both monthly plans. Audible's plans page shows Try for $0.00 for Standard ("Auto-renews at $8.99/mo after 30 days") and Premium ("Auto-renews at $14.95/mo after 30 days"). Audible says "You can cancel anytime before your trial ends and you won't be charged. There are no commitments and no cancellation fees," and "We'll send you an email reminder before your trial ends." (Audible Plans & Pricing)

Who qualifies: "You can sign up for a 30-day free trial if you haven't been an Audible member or taken a free trial in the last 12 months." (Audible Help: Learn about the Standard Membership) Prime members: Audible says "Audible is not included with an Amazon Prime subscription," but Prime members "can try Audible Premium free and get two free audiobooks." (Audible Help: Learn about the Premium Membership)

What you'll pay after the trial:

Plan Price What you get
Standard $8.99/month Select 1 audiobook a month; "Listen to your selected audiobooks until you cancel"
Premium (1 credit) $14.95/month 1 credit a month for any title (yours to keep), the Plus Catalog, member discounts
Premium (2 credits) $22.95/month 2 credits a month, plus the same benefits
Premium Annual (12 credits) $149.50/year 12 credits up front
Premium Annual (24 credits) $229.50/year 24 credits up front

Sources: Audible Plans & Pricing and Audible Help: Learn about the Premium Membership. The free trial button appears on the monthly plans; the annual plans are a straight sign-up. Audible notes that "The name of our Premium Plus plan is changing to Premium," so you may still see "Premium Plus." Billed through Apple or Google? "The price may differ from what's shown here." (same help page)

Before you cancel: what you keep and what you lose

  • Keep: "Any audiobooks you've purchased with cash or credits are yours to keep even after you cancel your membership." (Audible Plans & Pricing)
  • Lose: unused credits. Audible's Conditions of Use say "Credits expire immediately upon the cancellation or termination of your membership unless used prior to cancellation or termination." (Conditions of Use) So spend your trial credit before you cancel.
  • Lose (Standard): your monthly picks. "Monthly audiobook selections are available in your Library until you cancel. Once you cancel, you will no longer have access to titles you selected with this membership." (Audible Help: Standard Membership)
  • Lose (Premium): the Plus Catalog. Those titles "will have a lock icon on them in your Library," and you get access back if you rejoin. (Audible Plans & Pricing)
  • Exception: "Credits received through an App Store membership or a Google Play Store membership do not expire and will remain in your account after cancellation." (Audible Help: Cancel membership)

Step 1: Check who bills you

"Verify your billing method in your Membership details. If billed through the Google Play Store or App Store, manage your Audible subscription in their respective app stores." (Audible Help: Before you cancel)

Signing up in the app doesn't always mean Apple or Google bills you. Audible says app sign-ups are sometimes "redirected to Audible.com to complete the enrollment." (Audible Help: Premium Membership) Check your receipt email, or look for Audible in your iPhone or Google Play subscriptions.

How to cancel Audible on the website

For memberships billed by Audible (Audible Help: Cancel membership):

On a computer 1. Select your name on the top navigation. 2. Select Membership details. 3. Select the Cancel membership link. 4. Select Confirm cancellation.

On a phone's web browser 1. Select the main menu. 2. Select your name. 3. Select Membership details. 4. Select Cancel membership. 5. Select Confirm cancellation.

"After you cancel, you'll get an email confirmation." Keep it. Don't see a cancel option? Audible says to check that you're signed in to the account with the active membership. You might have multiple accounts, so try a different email address. (same source) You can also cancel by "contacting our Customer Service team via telephone or chat." (Conditions of Use)

Want to keep your credits? Instead of cancelling, you "may be eligible to pause your membership." Eligible monthly plans can pause "for up to 90 days every 12 months"; annual plans can't pause. (Audible Help: Before you cancel)

How to cancel on iPhone or iPad (billed by Apple)

Audible's steps (Audible Help: Manage App Store subscription):

  1. Open your App Store or iOS device Settings.
  2. Select your name.
  3. Select Subscriptions.
  4. Select Audible.
  5. Select Cancel Subscription.
  6. Select Confirm.

"If you don't see 'Cancel Subscription,' your membership is already canceled and won't be renewed." Audible says to cancel App Store or Google Play memberships "at least 24 hours in advance" (Audible Help: Premium Membership), and Apple says to cancel a trial "at least 24 hours before the trial ends." (Apple Support) On a Mac: App Store → your name at the bottom of the sidebar → your name again → Subscriptions → Audible → Cancel Subscription. (same Apple source)

How to cancel on Android (billed by Google Play)

Audible's steps (Audible Help: Manage Google Play Store subscription):

  1. Open the Google Play Store on your computer or phone.
  2. Select your Profile icon.
  3. Select Payments & subscriptions.
  4. Select Subscriptions.
  5. Find and select Audible.
  6. Select Cancel subscription.
  7. Choose a reason, then select Continue.

Google adds: "When you uninstall the app, your subscription won't cancel." (Google Play Help)

Resubscribing later? For both app stores, "you need to wait until the cancellation is complete before signing up again through Audible." (Audible Help, App Store and Google Play articles)

What happens after you cancel

  • Billed by Audible: Audible says "Your member benefits terminate when your membership is cancelled, but cancellation does not terminate your license and access to purchased content." (Conditions of Use) Its help center says Premium members lose unused credits and member benefits "At the end of your final billing cycle." (Audible Help: Cancel membership) Neither page says how much trial time you keep after cancelling, so use your credit or monthly pick before you cancel.
  • Billed by Apple or Google: "You can still enjoy your Audible membership for the time that you've already paid for." (Audible Help, App Store and Google Play articles)
  • Your account stays: you "can still purchase audiobooks at full price without a membership." (Audible Help: Before you cancel)

Already charged? Refund tips

  • Audible's policy: "If you cancel your membership or subscription, you will not receive a refund of any fees already paid." Credits are "non-refundable." (Conditions of Use) If a charge just went through and you haven't used the new credit, you can still contact Audible customer service by chat or phone. A refund isn't promised.
  • Billed by Apple: go to reportaproblem.apple.com → "I'd like to" → Request a refund → choose a reason and the subscription → Submit. Expect an update in 24 to 48 hours. (Apple Support)
  • Billed by Google Play: contacting the app developer "is often the quickest way," or request a refund from Google Play. (Google Play Help)

FAQ

How long is the Audible free trial? 30 days. Audible's Standard and Premium monthly plans both start with a 30-day free trial for people who haven't been members or taken a trial in the last 12 months. After 30 days the membership renews automatically unless you cancel.

How much does Audible cost after the free trial? In the US, Standard is $8.99 a month and Premium is $14.95 a month for 1 credit or $22.95 a month for 2 credits. Annual Premium plans are $149.50 a year for 12 credits or $229.50 a year for 24 credits. Prices through Apple or Google may differ.

How do I cancel my Audible free trial? On the Audible website, select your name, then Membership details, Cancel membership and Confirm cancellation. If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancel in your App Store or Google Play subscriptions instead.

Can I cancel Audible in the iPhone or Android app? If Apple or Google Play bills you, cancel in your iPhone Settings subscriptions or in Google Play subscriptions. If Audible bills you, Audible's help pages give the cancel steps for its website, on a computer or a phone's browser. Deleting the app doesn't cancel the membership.

Do I keep my audiobooks if I cancel Audible? You keep any audiobook you bought with a credit or with cash. You lose Plus Catalog titles and, on Standard, the monthly selections you picked. Those titles lock until you rejoin.

What happens to my Audible credits if I cancel? Unused credits from an Audible-billed membership are lost when you cancel, so spend them first. Credits received through an App Store or Google Play membership don't expire and stay in your account.

Can I get a refund from Audible after being charged? Audible's Conditions of Use say you won't get a refund of fees already paid when you cancel. You can still contact Audible customer service by chat or phone. If Apple or Google Play billed you, ask them for a refund.

Can I pause Audible instead of cancelling? Yes, for eligible monthly plans: up to 90 days every 12 months, and your existing credits stay active. Annual plans can't be paused. App Store memberships pause for exactly 30 days.
