How to Cancel Your Hulu Free Trial Before You're Charged

• Which Hulu plan has a free trial? Hulu Help says free trials are "currently available for the Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN plan," for new and eligible returning subscribers "who have not subscribed to Hulu in the past 12 months." (Hulu Help: Free trials) Standalone Hulu and Hulu Premium aren't on that list.
• To cancel during the trial (billed by Hulu): go to your Hulu Account page (hulu.com/account) in a computer or mobile browser → select Cancel → follow the on-screen steps. You'll get a confirmation email. (Hulu Help)
• Heads-up: "Hulu + Live TV free trials will end immediately upon cancellation." With other plans, you keep access until the trial or billing cycle ends. (Hulu Help: How to cancel Hulu)
• Deadline: cancel "prior to 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time on the day before your subscription term ends" to avoid the next charge. (Subscriber Agreement §2(e))

Hulu free trial length and prices now (US)

Trial length: Hulu doesn't publish a number of days. It says the length "depends on the subscription that you're signing up for" and that trial lengths "are subject to change." The exact end date is on your Account page. (Hulu Help: Free trials)

What you'll pay after the trial: "Once your free trial ends, you will automatically be charged the current monthly rate of the plan you selected."

Watch for prorated charges: if a plan trial and an add-on trial end on different dates, or a trial ends before your regular billing date, Hulu says "you will see a prorated charge." Changing plans during a trial "may result in a charge." (Hulu Help)

Step 1: Check who bills you

Look at your Hulu Account page → Payment Information. Hulu says cancellation steps "may vary" if you pay through Amazon, Apple, Comcast Xfinity, Disney, Google, Kroger, HBO Max, Optimum, Roku, Spotify, T-Mobile or Verizon. (Hulu Help: How to cancel Hulu)

How to cancel Hulu on the web (computer or phone browser)

For subscriptions billed by Hulu, including trials and bundles:

1. Go to your Account page (hulu.com/account) in a computer or mobile browser.
2. Select Cancel under Your Subscription.
3. If you're offered a pause, select Continue to Cancel.
4. Select Cancel Subscription.

Afterwards your Account page should say "Your subscription will be canceled," and Hulu sends a confirmation email ("please keep this email for your records"). (Hulu Help: How to cancel Hulu)

How to cancel on iPhone or iPad

• Billed by Hulu (all new sign-ups): use the web steps above in Safari. Hulu says "New and returning subscribers are no longer able to sign up and pay for Hulu through Apple." (Hulu Help: Apple-billed accounts)

• Billed by Hulu: use the web steps above in Chrome.
• Billed by Google Play (older subscriptions; Hulu says new subscribers can't pay through Google anymore): in Google Play, go to subscriptions → Hulu → Cancel subscription → follow the instructions. On a TV, Roku or Fire TV

Hulu's cancel steps are for "a computer or mobile browser," so use your phone or laptop even if you watch on TV. - Roku-billed: Hulu says "you can cancel your Hulu subscription on Hulu.com." (Hulu Help: Roku-billed accounts) Roku Support says that even when Roku bills you, you should contact Hulu directly (877-824-4858), because "Roku processes the charge, but … Hulu manage[s] the subscription." Hulu inside the Disney+ app

Hulu says Hulu and Hulu Premium "will continue to be available," and that "by the end of the year we'll be further integrating Hulu within Disney+." Eligible subscribers can already watch Hulu content in the Disney+ app and link their Hulu profile. Live TV still runs in the Hulu app for now. (Hulu Help: Is Hulu going away?) Watching Hulu in Disney+ doesn't change who bills you. Pause instead?

Hulu-billed subscribers can pause for up to 12 weeks: Account page → Your Subscription → Pause → set the duration. Pausing isn't available for annual subscribers, people "on a promotion," or most third-party-billed accounts (Amazon and Roku are exceptions). (Hulu Help: Pause)

Already charged? Refund tips

• Hulu's policy: "Except as required by applicable law, we do not refund or credit for partially used subscription terms and/or billing periods, although we may provide such refunds or credits on a case-by-case basis in our sole and absolute discretion." (Subscriber Agreement §2(e)) So cancel first, then contact Hulu support (live support 24/7 per Hulu Help) and explain that you meant to cancel the trial. A refund isn't guaranteed.
